Friday Night Dinner star Harry Landis has died aged 90. The London-born actor and director, most recently known for playing Mr Morris in the Channel 4 sitcom, died on Monday. His death was announced by his agent at Sharry Clark Artists, who wrote on Facebook on Monday in a heartfelt post: “Sad news. Our wonderful customer Harry Landis has passed on. “Harry had an amazing career and gained new fans in his later life as Mr Morris on Friday Night Dinner. It was a privilege to work with him as a client. Harry, you will be sadly missed. RIP.’ Actress Tracy-Ann Oberman, who appeared on Friday Night Dinner between 2011-2020, led the tributes to the actor on Twitter. One wrote: “RIP Harry Landis. If you haven’t watched Friday Night Dinner, you should do so pronto. A second audience: “RIP to ultimate punk rocker Harry Landis. What a lad.” “Today I remember Harry Landis who sadly passed away at the age of 91. Mr. Morris was a bleeding lunatic,” shared another. Harry started out as a chef before landing his first acting job aged 15 after graduating from drama school. His first television appearance was in 1955 when he starred in the pilot episode of Dixon of Dock Green. He went on to appear in several episodes as well as the final episode 25 years later. Harry’s career also took him to the theatre, where over the years he had stage roles in The Kitchen, Journey’s End and A Winter Tale, while as a director he undertook the production of Death Of A Salesman. During his career spanning over six decades, Harry has appeared in the likes of Casualty, Doctors, Holby City and Goodnight Sweetheart.
