WECHU says the School Immunization Act requires public health units to maintain and review immunization records for every student attending school and impose in-school suspensions for incomplete immunization information. The health unit first issued more than 13,000 notices in June. The following steps will take place once a student/parent/guardian provides WECHU with an updated immunization record:

The file will be updated, The student/parent/guardian and the school principal will be informed, The suspension will be lifted and The student may return to school.

Immunization clinics are available in the Health Unit today and throughout the week. Although appointments are not required, you can visit wechu.org/getimmunized for more information about clinic hours and to make an appointment.

Immunization records are accepted in person between 8:30 A.M. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, at our Windsor and Leamington offices. The student’s primary health care provider may also fax updated immunization records to WECHU at 519-258-7288.
