According to the LASD, the homes of Kuehl and LA County Commissioner Patricia “Patti” Giggans were searched Wednesday morning. The Los Angeles County offices, the headquarters of the non-profit organization Peace Over Violence and the headquarters of METRO were also searched. “The investigation has been shared with a federal agency and is continuing to follow up,” LASD said in a statement. “This remains an active investigation and we are unable to comment further at this time, although in full transparency the search warrant has been posted online at LASD.org.” AIR7 HD was above Kuehl’s home near 32nd and Pearl streets shortly after 7 a.m. Wednesday, where LASD agents were seen surrounding the home. Kuehl, who represents LA County’s 3rd District, spoke to ABC7 and said the warrant requires a full search of her home. He said the warrant did not reveal any other information beyond those details. He claims there is no ongoing investigation by the sheriff’s department and believes it stems from a “bogus non-issue” related to claims made by a disgruntled METRO employee. “We didn’t vote on a contract, we didn’t even know about the contract,” said Kuehl, who claims the employee issue stems from an alleged contract signed by METRO that was negotiated with Peace Over Violence, which the Kuehl. did not vote. “These MPs have stepped into something that is kind of non-existent.” He went on to say, “There is no allegation of any crime. There is no basis for it.” Sheriff Alex Villanueva has not personally issued an official statement regarding the search warrants. This is a developing story.
