In an agreed statement of facts, he admitted walking from his home to the spa while wearing a long, dark trench coat and the sword stuck in his belt. Arzaga, the mother of a five-year-old girl, was asked to cover the front desk for an employee who had not shown up. The killer walked in just after 12:30pm and seemed to welcome him until he suddenly pulled out a sword and began stabbing her repeatedly. He suffered 42 blunt force injuries — to the face, chest, abdomen, back, arms, hands, legs, chest wall, lungs and liver, as well as a 15.7 cm lateral to his left side of her face that was cut into a muscle. He died on the spot.
