The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says around 11 p.m., Burnaby RCMP responded to a report of shots fired in the 4700-block of Hastings Street.

When police arrived, they located one man already dead. About 20 minutes later, police responded to a report of a vehicle on fire in the 8200-block of Burnlake Drive. Police are still on site and will remain in the area as the investigation continues. Investigators have not said whether they have identified a suspect. Anyone with dash-cam video in the area of Hastings Street and Beta Avenue, between 10 p.m. and 11:20 p.m. is being asked to contact IHIT investigators. Also, anyone who was in the area of Burnlake Drive and Government Road between 11 p.m. and 11:45 p.m. and has dash-cam video, is encouraged to call police. Traffic on Hastings Street between Gamma Avenue and Beta Avenue, and the surrounding area, will likely be affected for several hours Wednesday due to the ongoing investigation.
