On Wednesday, the Princess of Wales made her way from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall for a service for the Queen. For the occasion, which saw Kate riding alongside Camilla, Queen Consort, she wore an all-black outfit and a black veiled fascinator. She completed the look with the Queen’s diamond and pearl leaf brooch, which she paired on her lapel. The brooch is recognizable by its trio of pearls, which are set at the corners of a paved leaf. The late monarch wore the pin on her 73rd birthday in April 1999 while attending a concert in Seoul, South Korea. In photos of the event, the Queen was seen wearing the pin pinned to a yellow dress with white polka dots. Accessorize the look with a pair of white gloves and her favorite three-strand pearls. It’s not the first time Kate has worn the pin given to her by her husband Prince William’s grandmother, as she was first photographed wearing the pin in 2017 while attending a service commemorating the centenary of the Battle of Passchendaele in Belgium. Kate’s choice to wear a jewel associated with the Queen comes after she paid tribute to the late monarch with her choice of necklace on Tuesday, when she wore a three-strand pearl necklace in honor of the king’s favorite jewel. As well as honoring the Queen with her pin of choice, the princess also paid tribute to the late Princess Diana with her jewelery choices on Wednesday, with the royal reportedly wearing a pair of earrings that once belonged to her husband’s mother. Kate also paired the pieces together when she wore the pin to the Passchendaele celebrations in Belgium. During Wednesday’s procession, which also included Meghan Markle, who rode with Sophie, the Countess of Wessex, William and Prince Harry walked behind their grandmother’s coffin. Once they arrived at Westminster Hall, the Archbishop of Canterbury held a short service.
