UPDATE 6:10 p.m Torrential rain that turned into hail preceded a series of accidents Wednesday afternoon on the Okanagan Connector. Stu Johnston tells Castanet he was driving east on Highway 97C when the very heavy rain turned to ice. He ran out and crashed into a freeway barrier, but was unhurt. In the westbound lanes, he said there were at least four vehicles involved in separate collisions. “The rollover occurred when the vehicle rear-ended a stationary car,” Johnston said. The highway has now reopened. ORIGINAL 4:45 p.m All westbound lanes and one eastbound lane are closed on Highway 97C near Pennask Summit after a rollover crash.
