Actor Michael Pitt was arrested by police last Friday and taken to the hospital after a very public outburst in New York, according to TMZ. Video obtained by TMZ shows Pitt tied up in a garage and surrounded by EMS technicians who lead him down a sidewalk in Bushwick, Brooklyn, possibly to a waiting ambulance. Pete looks like he’s bewildered… first he looks up at the sky and then turns his head to the side as he lays quietly on the stretcher. Law enforcement sources tell us … someone called 911 to report a man (Pitt) was throwing objects at people, possibly from the roof of a building. Officers quickly responded to the scene and Pitt was arrested but not charged with a crime because he was considered an emotionally disturbed person. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment. In July, Pitt had another brush with the law at the same location and was arrested for assault and petty theft. The actor allegedly grabbed a man’s phone from his hand and punched him repeatedly in the head before taking the phone. Fortunately, the man was only slightly injured. In New York, a person placed on an involuntary mental hold can only be held for 72 hours, unless the hospital asks a judge to hold the patient, and then only for a maximum of 60 days. We don’t know Pete’s current condition. We reached out to reps for Pitt … so far, no word back.
