The good news is that the phone is relatively easy to repair, at least some parts. Since this is a US model, there is no physical SIM card slot. This means that the first thing that comes off the phone is the screen. There is a metal plate that helps keep the various cables firmly attached to the dual-layer motherboard and also acts as a heat spreader. With that out of the way, one can start disconnecting the display and the battery (battery is marked 16.93 Wh, by the way). So these two common repairs are easy to make, though that doesn’t mean they’re cheap. Getting to the cameras requires digging out a few more parts. One interesting thing that emerges from the video is that it looks like the new front-facing camera has OIS (you can see it at the 3:40 mark). Apple added autofocus for the first time but made no mention of optical stabilization, the official specs only say “Automatic Image Stabilization.” This is something worth exploring. The screen and battery come out fairly easily • The satellite unit? Another interesting development is a mysterious new component – possibly part of the new satellite SOS functionality and taking up quite a bit of space on the motherboard. Considering that the iPhone 14 Pro Max is basically the same size as the 13 Pro Max, Apple had to do a lot of work to make everything fit. Source
