Starting today, residents of Renfrew County and Region 18 years of age and older will be able to make appointments for a bivalent COVID-19 booster shot at local clinics.  Please note that the bivalent COVID-19 vaccine booster will not be offered to residents attending clinics this week (September 12-16).  

The following groups will be able to start booking bivalent souvenirs for COVID-19 appointments today and will be able to attend clinics from the week of September 19:

people aged 70 and over; residents of long-term care homes, nursing homes, Nursing Homes, and people living in other complexes that provide assisted living and health services; First Nation, Inuit and Métis people and their non-Indigenous household members aged 18 and over; moderately to severely immunocompromised persons aged 12 years and older. pregnant people aged 18 and over; and healthcare workers aged 18 and over.

Residents aged 18 and over will also be able to start booking bivalent COVID-19 vaccine vouchers today and will be able to attend clinics from the week of September 26.
Those wishing to make an appointment can do so online through the Provincial Vaccine Contact Center or by calling 1-833-943-3900. Starting September 19, the groups mentioned above can contact participating pharmacies about getting the new bivalent COVID-19 booster. Residents 18 and older can contact participating pharmacies about the availability of the bivalent COVID-19 booster vaccine starting September 26. It is recommended that you call the pharmacy ahead of time, as vaccine supply varies and appointments may be required. Anyone who has recently experienced a COVID-19 infection should wait 90 days after the date symptoms began or the date they tested positive for COVID-19 before receiving the bivalent COVID-19 vaccine booster (and only if they have already six months after taking their previous dose). Even if you have been vaccinated, it is important to continue to follow public health measures to keep the community safe. stay home if you are sick, avoid contact with people who are sick, practice physical distancing (2 meters), wear a mask/face covering when you cannot maintain physical distancing, wash your hands, and complete the COVID-19 self-assessment tool 19 or school and child care COVID-19 self-assessment tool every day before you go to work, school or daycare, to monitor for symptoms and proper guidance.
