The Northumberland PACE speaker series returns for the 2022-23 season with a virtual chat, this time exploring the topic of inflammatory arthritis. Led by Rheumatologist Dr. Jason Ann, September’s talk, “So You Were Referred to the Rheumatologist” will be held via Zoom on Thursday, September 22nd at 5:30pm. After attending medical school at the University of Calgary, Dr. If completed an Internal Medicine residency at the University of Alberta, followed by a fellowship in Rheumatology at McMaster University and a fellowship in Rare Diseases at the Hospital for Sick Children, where he focused on the genetic analysis of rare autoinflammatory and immune dysregulation disorders. In March 2022, Dr. If joined the specialist network at Northumberland Hills Hospital (NHH) and now provides local patients with virtual rheumatology consultations for a range of inflammatory disorders including arthritis, connective tissue diseases and auto-inflammatory conditions. Dr. Ahn will explain what a rheumatologist does and explore ways rheumatologists can help patients with severe arthritis symptoms. Attendees will leave this session with more familiarity with the two main types of inflammatory arthritis as well as prevention tips on how to best keep your joints healthy. As is typical of the PACE Talk format, questions from the audience will be answered. These can be presented live or submitted in advance by emailing [email protected] prior to the conversation on Thursday, September 22, 2022. Since 2018, Northumberland PACE Conversations have been jointly offered as free public education sessions on a wide range of health and wellness topics and have consistently attracted large groups of community members with a range of questions and perspectives. Like many other events, The Northumberland PACE Speaker Series has adapted to a new, virtual format as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Participating partners continue to grow, with Northumberland Ontario Health Group joining founding partners at the planning table for the 2022-23 season. Lasting one hour, each PACE event consists of a 30-minute talk, a 20-minute question-and-answer period with guest speakers, and a brief moderator summary. Bring your questions, suggestions, and experience and join us for another informative discussion on what is expected to be a topic chosen by past PACE participants! Pre-registration is required and space is limited to the first 300 registered participants. This event will be hosted via Zoom and participants are invited to log into the event 5 minutes prior to the start. Join So You’ve Been Referred to a Rheumatologist today at www.pacetalks.com, where you’ll also find videos and highlights from many of the talks from previous seasons. For those unable to attend, efforts will be made to share a recording of this conversation after the event, technology permitting. View/download the pdf news release
