The victim was transported to the Ottawa Hospital campus with life-threatening conditions and has since died. Paramedics said the two injured were in serious but stable condition and were also taken to the Civic campus trauma center. Blood can be seen outside the shopping center near the bus station, where police vehicles have been on the road since early Friday night. Police said in a tweet that they received a call about a stabbing at the St. Laurent around 4:35 p.m. A police operation is underway and the homicide squad is investigating. The train station is closed
OC Transpo tweeted that the St-Laurent station was closed. Trains are still running through the LRT station but will not stop, it said as of 6 p.m Buses are available at St. Laurent, OC Transpo said. A spokesman for the mall said the mall and its parking lot are open and operating as normal. “Our thoughts are with those affected by this unfortunate incident,” the spokesman said in an email. Bryon Statham, a shopper, said he was also thinking about commuters who may have witnessed the incident. “There are going to be some people who saw this who are going to be affected,” he said. “To see this happen, so close, this didn’t happen at night, this happened in broad daylight … this is rush hour,” he told the CBC.
