A big plus here is the announcement of a brand new Karate Kid movie for June 7, 2024, which has no talent in terms of stars or director. There is an untitled True Haunting movie from Screen Gems that will actually be released on January 6, 2023. This first weekend of the year has been a busy one for Sony and genre movies. there they released the first Escape Room in 2019 with an $18.2M opening and $57M+ stateside, $155M+ WW. True Haunting is the only new wide release on January 6, aside from Paramount’s expansion of Damien Chazelle’s Babylon . Also new for next year is the next installment in the Searching franchise, Missing, on February 24, starring Nia Long and Storm Reid. The other two big entries on that date are Universal’s Cocaine Bear starring Keri Russell and Margo Martindale and Lionsgate’s Jesus Revolution. The astronaut title directed by Scott Beck-Bryan Woods, 65, and starring Adam Driver, will be released earlier on March 10 next year instead of April 28. Disney just moved the Haunted Mansion from March 10th to August 11th. Also in the Venom slot for the first weekend of October is Sony/Marvel’s Kraven the Hunter. This Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ariana DeBose, Christopher Abbot, Russell Crowe, Alessandro Nivola film will open on October 6th in Imax instead of January 13th. From January 13th Universal/Blumhouse’s M3GAN and an untitled event film from Warner Bros. October 6 now has Kraven the Hunter, 20th Century Studios’ True Love, an untitled Warner Bros. film, and an untitled Focus Features film. Madame Web, the Spider-Man spinoff about a prescient mutant, will now open in Imax on February 16, 2024 instead of October 6, 2023. An untitled Disney Marvel film was moved to February 16, 2024 and released on September 6, 2024 .An untitled Uni film remains on February 16th. Columbia Pictures’ Garfield movie will be released on May 24, 2024, Memorial Day weekend instead of February 16, 2024. Currently on Memorial Day weekend is Warner Bros/Village Roadshow’s Furiosa, John Krasinski/Ryan’s IF Untitled Reynolds and a 20th Century Studios Film. And the untitled Sony/Marvel film will now be released on July 12, 2024 instead of June 7, 2024. The only other July 12, 2024 title is an untitled New Line horror film.
