Visit our Complete Guide to Fall 2022 for an in-depth look at Fall Forecasts, tips to plan for it, and more! We head into the weekend with a slow moving storm system lingering near Lake Superior. A warm front extending across this low will eventually reach more than 2,000 km in length, stretching all the way from Thunder Bay east to Halifax. This warm front will serve as a sharp boundary between summer to the south and fall to the north. Communities that land under or near the warm front are also in line to see several days of rain — with decent totals possible through early next week. Steady rain across northwestern Ontario will continue straight through the weekend. Rainfall will remain limited in northern Ontario and northwestern Quebec through Saturday. Sunday will see the warm front move east across Ontario and Quebec, eventually ending up in parts of the Maritimes. The chance for showers and thunderstorms will follow the warm front as it builds east. DON’T MISS: Perseverance finds strongest signs of ancient life on Mars An axis of heavy rainfall will develop along and near the front, with totals of 50-90 mm possible across the Nickel Belt, parts of the National Capital Region and the Eastern Municipalities of Quebec. We’ll eventually see a chance for rain in southern Ontario, but the area will remain rain-free until late Sunday afternoon. The warm front will certainly live up to its name over the weekend. It will be possible to drive between seasons in the coming days if you are up for a short road trip and enjoy the gloomy weather. Temperatures south of the front will climb into the mid to upper 20s, with highs in the 30s possible in parts of southwestern Ontario. Along and north of the front, however, we’ll see fall-like temperatures. Highs for the day will be below seasonal, making it difficult to climb out of the upper-teens for some communities. Warmer weather will remain for much of southern Ontario heading into next week, with cooler temperatures and a chance of rain arriving with a cold front near the end of the week.
