The Telegraph reports that Meghan and Harry “appear to have been uninvited” to King Charles and Queen Camilla’s state reception at Buckingham Palace on Sunday night – the night before the Queen’s funeral – which will be attended by world leaders and kings from other countries. While the Sussexes received an invitation earlier this week, they were told the event was for “working members of the royal family only”. According to The Telegraph, it remains unclear “why they had received an invitation to an event that Royal aides insisted they were not expected to attend” and sources close to Harry and Meghan were “confused” by all the confusion. Meanwhile, palace aides still “insist they were not invited and were not expected to appear.” What is it? Chris JacksonGetty Images Apparently, the reception is expected to be a “silent affair” and guests will be asked to wear “lounge or morning dress” as they partake of drinks and canapés. They will be welcomed by Prince William and Kate Middleton, as well as Princess Anne, Prince Edward and Sophie, Countess of Wessex. As The Telegraph notes, there has been some miscommunication in general regarding Meghan and Harry. Most recently, Harry was reportedly told he could not wear his military uniform to the Queen’s final vigil. However, King Charles has given his permission for Harry to appear in uniform with his brother Prince William, and a palace source noted that “at the King’s request, they will both be in uniform.” Another source said: “Common sense has prevailed. It was a ridiculous situation as the Duke of Sussex served his country and is a highly respected member of the armed forces with what he has done for veterans. It is important her grandchildren queen to be everything made them feel welcome and comfortable as they mourn their beloved grandmother together.” Mehera Bonner Mehera Bonner is a celebrity and entertainment news writer who enjoys Bravo and Antiques Roadshow with equal enthusiasm.
