Prince Harry and Meghan Markle drama continued over the weekend as it was unclear whether the Sussexes would attend a pre-funeral reception at Buckingham Palace on the eve of Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex – who have settled in California after stepping down as senior members of the royal family in 2020 – reportedly initially received an invitation to the reception on Sunday night, but conflicting reports said they were and were not expected to attend.
According to the Telegraph, they were now uninvited because palace officials insisted the reception hosted by King Charles III and Camilla, the Queen’s consort, is only for working royals, which Harry and Meghan are not.
However, Yahoo New UK reported that despite the reception originally being for working royals only, an exception was made and the Sussexes are expected to attend.
MEGHAN AND HARRY’S DINNER IS SERVED AND ‘REVENGE’ IS ON THE MENU: ROYAL EXPERT

The “king and queen consort, accompanied by members of the royal family” plan to host hundreds of world leaders and royalty from other countries, the palace announced on Friday. President Biden is among those expected to attend the reception and funeral on Monday.
There has been significant tension between Harry and Meghan and the rest of the family – particularly his brother Prince William and Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales – since they left the UK, which was not helped by their interview with Oprah. In the interview, they claimed, among other accusations, that the palace had failed to help a suicidal Meghan and that someone had made a racist comment about their son Archie, 3.
The couple surprised the public when they appeared with William and Kate at Windsor Castle last Saturday to thank members of the public mourning Her Majesty.

The four appeared at subsequent events, including the arrival of the Queen’s coffin at Westminster Hall on Wednesday to lie in state.
Meghan and Harry caused a ruckus as they left Westminster Hall held hands, leading some to believe they had broken royal protocol in public displays of affection, but royal expert Shannon Felton Spence told Fox News Digital there are no “official ‘rules’” against PDA.
But “we don’t often see it from the royals because usually when we see them they’re at work,” Spence explained. “They are presenting their most professional appearance. When we see William and Catherine outside, they are husband and wife colleagues.”

Spence said the royal couples do occasionally hold hands in public, but it’s usually in more causal circumstances.
And while some said the display was inappropriate, others felt Meghan was simply supporting her husband as he mourns his grandmother.
“I’ll give them a pass for today as they leave Westminster Hall because that procession must have been very traumatic for Harry and everyone is grieving,” Spence said.
The row over the invitation echoes drama that unfolded during the week over whether Harry would wear his military uniform when he stood vigil around the Queen’s coffin with William and their cousins on Saturday.
Initially, it was reported that he would not be allowed to wear his uniform – although Prince Andrew lost his military titles earlier this year amid allegations of sexual assault.
But by Friday, it was reported that he would be wearing the uniform “at the request of the King”.
Harry and Meghan are expected to attend the Queen’s funeral on Monday.
