Photo: Contributed Two small planes collided mid-air Saturday near Denver, killing three people, authorities said. The two occupants of one plane were both found dead in the wreckage, and the passenger of the second plane was also found dead in debris at a separate location, the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. The collision happened just before 9am on Saturday morning. The identities of the victims have not been released. The National Transportation Safety Board said in a statement posted on Twitter that it is investigating a collision between a Cessna 172 aircraft and a Sonex Xenos aircraft near Longmont, Colorado. Longmont is about 30 miles north of Denver. The Sonex Xenos is a lightweight, aluminum, low-wing, two-seat domestic aircraft. The Cessna 172 Skyhawk is a popular four-seat single-engine aircraft.
