This is the disturbing moment a pregnant woman and her colleague were shot dead by a group of armed robbers. Footage shows the thugs running into a store in Manaus, Brazil, chasing Vanessa Araujo de Carvalho, who was seven months pregnant, before shooting her in the store’s bathroom. Shop worker Jania Simplicio tried to hide but was lifted forward over the counter as a second gangster burst in and pointed his pistol at her. CCTV footage shows Ms Simplicio begging the gangster before he opened fire and shot her twice. One of the gunmen, dressed in jeans, a black T-shirt and a blue hat, ran out of the black vehicle and into the store. Later footage shows the same gangster pointing his pistol at Vanessa Araujo de Carvalho, who was seven months pregnant, before shooting her in the bathroom. Another robber dressed in a black T-shirt and hat ran out of the car before entering the store. The elderly woman (center) stood still as the atrocity unfolded Two other customers – a man and an elderly woman – witnessed the atrocity that happened on September 10. Paramedics took Ms Carvalho and Ms Simplicio to hospital, but they later died from their serious injuries. Ms Carvalho’s seven-month-old unborn child was removed by emergency caesarean section but died two days later from complications. Before the massacre of Hudson Reis de Oliveira, 40, remains in critical condition after being shot four times by the robbers outside the store. The three gunmen got out of a Fiat Siena with their faces partially visible in parts of the video. The motive behind the crime in Brazil is unclear, but the Special Police Homicide and Kidnapping Unit continues to investigate the shootings.
