In an update to his original post on the GTA forums, Teapotuberhacker wrote the following message as an edit to his first post. “Ok so this unexpectedly went viral, woke up to 3000 DMs. If you are a Rockstar or Take 2 employee trying to contact me, please send me a message containing 22559219889638875756 on Telegram or you can email me at [email protected] ** from your corporate email address ** I will try to read all these responses soon – looking to negotiate a deal.” It’s unclear exactly what the hacker in question would want, or what they think they have in terms of leverage over Rockstar’s parent company, Take-Two, which spent most of the day fighting the leak by issuing takedown notices to YouTube. It’s possible that the user has more insider information about GTA 6 than what was released today, as snippets of what is said to be the game’s source code have also made their way online, albeit in incomplete form. This could indicate that the user intends to hold Rockstar to ransom for the remaining hardware. First posted on the GTA forums, the leaked footage features open-world gameplay purportedly from GTA 6 and appears to be legit. It is claimed by the hacker that the videos were taken from a Slack channel. If legit, the build leak confirms the earlier report that the game will take place in Vice City. Bloomberg reported earlier this year that the game, which it claims began development sometime in 2014, is “at least two years away.”
