Russian forces fired eight missiles at the city of Zaporizhzhia, home to Europe’s largest nuclear power plant, overnight, Ukrainian officials said, as Russia suffered heavy battlefield casualties against Ukraine’s counterattack. At least eight missiles have been fired targeting infrastructure facilities, Zaporizhia Oblast Governor Oleksandr Starukh said, according to The Kyiv Independent. And, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has vowed not to give up the fight to regain territory lost to Russia as the war approaches its seventh month. It comes after the top US general warned it was unclear how Moscow would respond to its failures on the battlefield in Ukraine. In his late-night speech on Sunday, Zelensky promised to keep up the pressure on Moscow. “Maybe it seems to some of you that after a series of victories we now have a kind of calm,” he said in his regular nightly address. “But there will be no peace. There is preparation for the next series… Because Ukraine must be free. All of it.”

Win for Kyiv means removal of Russian troops from Ukraine, says Biden

Joe Biden has said that a victory for Ukraine would mean the expulsion of Russian forces from the besieged country. The US president promised full support from Washington for as long as needed. “Winning the war in Ukraine is getting Russia out of Ukraine completely and recognizing its sovereignty. They are defeating Russia,” Biden said in an interview on CBS’ “60 Minutes” yesterday. “Russia is proving to be not as capable and capable as many people thought it would be,” he added. He also asked his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin not to launch nuclear weapons in the ongoing war. “Do not. Don’t do it. Don’t do it. It would change the face of warfare unlike anything since World War II,” Biden said. Arpan Rai September 19, 2022 4:46 am 1663557782
