LIVE: Track rain in the San Francisco Bay Area with Live Doppler 7 In a surprise Sunday morning for neighbors on Quigg Drive in Santa Rosa, half of a tall tree was ripped off and toppled overnight, hitting a car. “Last night, we had a lot of wind, it looks like it came down,” Seaman said. The National Park Service shared a photo after gusty winds downed a tree on Ottinger Hill in Pt. Reis. The constant rain made driving tricky. The CHP says weather conditions likely caused the driver of a car to eject, hit a tree and overturn on Whitehall Lane near Yountville. Two people were taken to the hospital with injuries. The storm knocked out power to about 4,000 PG&E customers in Napa after a utility pole exploded. “The dog started barking at 1 a.m. I looked out the window and then fireworks, it looked like something blew up on the power pole and embers were dripping,” neighbor Chuck Taylor said. A Napa Church held Sunday Services in the dark for its parishioners. “About 15 minutes into the service, the power went out and we opened the doors for air circulation. It was a little dark but we were able to praise the lord,” said Pastor Jose Miranda from Iglesia Comunidad Vino Nuevo. In Mill Valley, a steady rain fell most of the day leaving a festival, all wet. Heavy rains forced the 65th Mill Valley Fall Arts Festival to be quickly cut short. This is tragic considering it’s a small event, we’ve always just done it,” said executive director Steve Bajor. Most of the 130 artists in attendance packed up early, except Potter Tina Fosella. “We nailed it yeah, but we’re happy to have the rain in California,” Fosella said. There’s also a chance of thunderstorms Monday, according to ABC7 meteorologist Lisa Argen. The chance for isolated showers continues through Tuesday morning. It’s important to note that this won’t end the fire season – it’s more likely to slow it down. Both September 2017 and 2019 had hot weather in early September followed by rain in the middle of the month. Fast forward to October 2017 and 2019, the Wine Country and Kincade Fires started respectively.
