By Samantha Lawson Posted September 18, 2022 at 6:22 pm A cold front moving through Mississauga and Brampton makes for a seasonally appropriate and cooler week ahead. There has been some rain in the area today (September 18) with a 70 per cent chance of rain expected to continue overnight. The wind is coming from the west at a speed of 20 km/h, with gusts up to 40 km/h at times. Thunderstorms are possible tomorrow afternoon (September 19) as a cold front moves through the area. Some storms may become severe tomorrow with the threat of up to 3cm hail and 70-90km/h winds. Large hail can damage property and loose objects can be blown by the wind and cause injury or damage. Uncertainty is high as the timing of the cold front moving into southern Ontario will affect the chance of severe weather. On Tuesday (September 20) sunshine is expected with a maximum temperature of 24 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 15. Then the rain returns on Wednesday (September 21) with a 60 percent chance of showers decreasing to a 30 percent chance by the evening. The high will be around 23C but with the combination of humidity and showers it will feel more like 32C. Thursday (September 22) marks the autumnal equinox and the official first day of the autumn term. The day will be typically cooler with a 30 percent chance of rain and a high of 15 degrees Celsius. Thursday night the low is expected to reach plus 4 as the chance of rain continues. Friday (September 23) remains cooler with a maximum temperature of 16 degrees Celsius and a low of plus 4 at night. Even with cooler seasonal temperatures expected this week, the heat hasn’t gone away just yet. Weather historian Rolf Campbell said the high of 28.5 degrees Celsius recorded this afternoon marked Peel’s hottest September 18 in 67 years. The last time it was this hot on September 18 was in the year 1955, when the temperature reached a high of 32.2 degrees Celsius. insauga editorial standards and advertising policies
