Arsenal youngster Ethan Nwaneri – who wasn’t even born when the Emirates Stadium opened – became the youngest player in Premier League history after coming off the bench in the dying moments of that match. The 15-year-old was promoted to first-team training this week having made his U21 debut at the start of September. And the attacking midfielder has already earned a place in Mikel Arteta’s squad with Martin Odegaard and Emile Smith-Rowe unavailable through injury. Nwaneri, who was born in March 2007, breaks the previous record held by Harvey Elliott, who was 16 years and 30 days old when he joined Fulham. Nwaneri is only 15 years and 180 days old. Mikel Arteta believes Aaron Ramsdale should be England’s No1 ahead of Jordan Pickford. The Arsenal goalkeeper kept a clean sheet in the 3-0 win over Brentford on Sunday afternoon. Speaking after the game, Arteta said: “I think Aaron has a lot of confidence anyway! It would be a good reward for what he has done. “I hope it is [picked for the World Cup]. “I think it would be great for us and Aaron. He has shown in the last year what he is capable of. We will watch and wait for this decision.” Gabriel Magalhaes poured salt into Ivan Toney’s wound after brutally trolling him following Arsenal’s emphatic win over Brentford. Toney had been speechless since his first call to England – and still hadn’t found his voice today. Brentford barely heard a peep from their striker as Arsenal superstars William Saliba, Gabriel Jesus and Fabio Vieira looked on. And Gabriel threw the loss further into the air when he tweeted after the game: “Nice kicking with the boys.” The smug Arsenal fans joined in too, chanting “Ivan Toney, a walk in the park”. The chant was a nod to the former Peterborough man’s cheeky Tweet “nice kicking with the boys” after Brentford inflicted a humiliating 2-0 defeat on Arsenal on the opening day of the 2021/22 season.
