Trevor Hooper Kilian, 47, was arrested in Naples, Fla., on Sept. 15 after a woman called police to report the assault, according to an arrest report from the Collier County Sheriff’s Office. She told officers Killian had gotten out of bed shortly after 10 p.m. and minutes later she heard the children screaming, according to the arrest report. He adds that he allegedly found Killian standing in the hall with a knife in his hand, saying, “I stabbed them, I stabbed them. What did I do?” One of the children had stab wounds to his back and the other was stabbed in the chest, the report said. Both had collapsed lungs and had to be airlifted to the hospital, but were in stable condition at the time of the arrest report. Police say Killian was found with “severe self-inflicted lacerations” to both hands and was taken to hospital. He faces two counts of attempted murder and two counts of child abuse. The arrest report does not specify the relationship between Killian and the woman who called police and the victims.

The family had financial problems, opposed vaccination orders

Kilian previously worked as a chiropractor in downtown Vancouver, but according to the BC College of Chiropractorshis license expired in August after two decades of practice in that province. He was one of the dozens of chiropractors who B.C signed a fake “disclaimer” in November 2021, threatening legal action against college board members in the event of a vaccination mandate. His wife Lauren posted on the “Conservative Canadians in Florida” Facebook group in January, saying their family had bought a new clinic in Naples — a city on the Gulf of Mexico about 150 kilometers west of Miami — and wanted to connect with ” I like – people with brains.’ He also gave an interview to Healthy Debate online in February explaining the move to Florida. He said Kilian’s chiropractic business had struggled in Vancouver due to the COVID-19 restrictions and they could no longer handle the pressure to vaccinate in Canada. “This has torn my family apart,” he said. “I really miss my friends back home… But everywhere I go here, people think like us.” According to the arrest report from Naples, the unidentified female officers interviewed at the scene said the family had recently moved from Canada due to financial difficulties. The report adds that Kilian had been a regular user of synthetic cannabis until about two weeks before the attack, but when he stopped he started behaving strangely and having manic episodes. The witness told police Killian had no history of violence against her or the children and that everything seemed fine the night of the stabbing. After finding the children injured in their bedroom, the report says, he barricaded himself inside and called police. Kilian is scheduled to be arraigned in a Collier County courtroom on Oct. 10.
